How to prepare for a meeting with your building contractor
Form an idea of what you want
The meeting will go a lot easier if you at least have an idea of what you want. Now you can discuss your vision with the building contractor and hear what he/she thinks about it.
Get reference of previous work done
Ask the building contractor to provide you with written reference to previous work done. Read them carefully. See if the contractor has experience with jobs similar to yours. This will mean that the contractor would know what materials and techniques to use. The contractor would also have knowledge of the different problems that they will run into and how to solve them.
Make a list of questions you want to ask the contractor
Make a list of all the things that you want to ask the contractor. A building contractor with a good record will not mind to answer some questions about your project or previous projects that they have done. If a contractor seems hesitant to discuss your questions, you might have the wrong person for the job.
